Fellini the Director, by most of spectators is connected solely with the world of film, and he's rarely recognized as a virtuoso of pencil and crayon, exquisite expressive graphic artist and caricaturist. Meanwhile, the basis for the film image was usually the very image drawn with Fellini's own skillful hands. The exhibition we are presenting at the Wroclaw City Hall, is a display of a process that led to film creation - from an idea to a sketch, a drawing, scenario and commentary that step by step was turned into a moving picture. We introduce Fellini as an undoubtedly all-embracing artist, who used for his work the skills from many fields of art with the same mastery. The presentation includes nearly fifty facsimile of Fellini's drawings, and over hundred documentary photos from film sets and scene arrangements, as well as film posters, manuscripts, letters, Oscar winning costumes from the Casanova film, scripts with the director handwritten commentaries. The exhibition documents Fellini's work on films such as: I Vitelloni, Love in the City, La Strada, The Swindlers, La Dolce Vita, 8 1/2 , Roma, Amarcord, Casanova, Orchestra Rehearsal. Showpieces come from the Swiss Fellini Fund pour le cinema, established by Fellini's assistant - Gerard Morin. Amongst eight thousands documents and objects selected especially for the Polish exhibition nearly three hundred were left. Beata Nowacka - Kardzis
