For the third time, in a somehow symbolic sense, but close indeed The Cinematography Museum of Łódź meets with Andrzej Żuławski. First meeting: his feature debut Pavoncello (1967) was shot partly in the interiors of Scheibler's palace in Łódź, that later became the Museum's location. Second meeting: his film The Silver Globe was awarded in 1988 with the Museum's of Cinematography Prize Artur. The third meeting is an exhibition of poster arts created for his films. We are presenting over twenty posters, Polish, American, German, French, Italian. Amongst Polish arts works from Andrzej Pągowski, Wiesław Wałkuski, Morszczak/Krauze. Luckly, his early polish films were created at times when a film poster was also a piece of art. Foreign posters bring us an image of Żuławski's world poularity, and present films that weren't shown in Polish cinemas, revealing another esthetics and different character. For a cinema historian every poster is equally important, and for a simple viewer similarly, for it reminds and informs of a certain film vision. |
