In the very centre of festival - in the foyer of the Puppet Theatre and in the nearby M Gallery - there will be an opportunity to take a rest from the new horizons of cinema, from revolutions and crossing frontiers - an exposition of paintings by the artist from Poznań, Agnieszka Opala. Loneliness under Control is a collection of more than ten oil paintings on linen. These are romantic "arbour scenes", an impressionist walk through gardens. In painting landscapes, Agnieszka Opala is a colourist. In their abstract dramatics she includes figurative elements, such as empty chairs and tables, frozen, as if waiting for someone's presence. Precise compositions show a distorted world. The painter uses the effect of squinted eyes, making natural hues blurred, escaping from shapes. Agnieszka Opala studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. She received a diploma at her drawing studies led by Professor Józef Drążkiewicz in 1993. She specialises in easel painting and illustrating books. She is an artist appreciated by connoisseurs. Her works are presented in Poland and abroad. She was the only Pole participating in the exposition of works of 30 sculptors and painters Artists Aut & Aut (2007) in Ca' Pesaro Palace in Vernice. In New York, she joined a collective exposition West Wing (Agora Gallery). Loneliness... was brought to Wrocław from Galeria SD in Wilanów. Agnieszka Szeffel |
