Krzystof M. Bednarski is a sculptor, installation artist and poster-designer. He works in Rome and Warsaw. In the 1970s he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He was involved in the milieu of Jerzy Grotowski; he participated in the para-theatrical undertakings of the Laboratory Theatre. The most famous pieces by Bednarski, include his graduation work The Total Portrait of Karl Marx (Portret totalny Karola Marksa), (1978) - an ironic multiplication of the philosopher's head, Victoria-victoria (1983) - a huge hand, raised in the V-sign, with its fingers cut, variations about Moby Dick and a series of sculptures inspired by his journey to Africa. He designed the tombstone of Krzysztof Kieślowski at the Powązki cemetery in Warsaw. In his work he applies not only the traditional sculpting materials, but also the play of light and shadows. Meeting Federico Fellini is a project of 1994. The initiative to create a monument to be placed at Pizzale Federico Fellini in the director's hometown Rimini came from Magdalena Fellini, the director's sister and the president of the Fellini Foundation of Rimini, and the town's mayor, Giuseppe Chicci. But the cast, prepared by Bednarski, although described and discussed in the Italian press, never became part of any town's public space. It will happen for the first time in Wrocław, at the Market Square. After the end of the festival, the monument will return to a warehouse in Rimini. Agnieszka Szeffel
