This year, the music stage of the Festival Club of ERA NEW HORIZONS 2008 was moved to the historic Arsenal at ul. Cieszyńskiego in Wrocław. The location in the city-centre, close to the other festival venues, is one of the many advantages of this place; the building’s austere atmosphere corresponds to the Club’s uncompromising character and to the music from all over the world it will present. The repertoire for the ENH music stage has a very distinct profile; the organisers of the events in the ARSENAL will be striving to satisfy the sophisticated taste of the festival audience. It has been observed that a common feature of all guests of the Club is their multimedia art: most have film experience and during the concerts they will be presenting the visualisations they have created.
As a result, there will be a lot to see and a lot to listen to. During the 11 days of the festival ENH, the music stage will present 15 groups and 11 DJ projects, representing different styles currently dominant in the world of music. Just like the original new-horizon films shown to the festival audience, these groups invited to Wrocław are distinguished by their high artistic quality with many of them being hardly known in Poland. Among these performances we will hear COLDCUT JOURNEYS BY VJ - founder of the legendary label NINJA TUNE; and MATTHEW HERBERT BIG BAND - an orchestra of 19 people whose music will be processed live by HERBERT. The festival fans may be surprised by the concerts of MUGISON - a music revelation from Iceland - and KAADA, known in Poland for his work with MIKE PATTON, with whom he recorded one album. There will also be the hard, uncompromising sounds of COLUMN ONE - post-industrial experimenters, famous for their cooperation with Genesis P-orridge, and by KODE 9 - author of that excellent album Memories of the future. Those who love exotic rhythms are going to be satisfied with the concerts of MOANA AND THE TRIBE from New Zealand and YOUNGBLOOD BRASS Band from the United States. And for fans of dark soundtracks and socially involved content, there will be the hip-hop group FOOD FOR ANIMALS, who are coming to Wrocław from the USA especially for this concert! Polish music will be represented by three bands from Wrocław: SKALPEL SOUND SPECTRUM, OSZIBARACK and DIGIT ALL LOVE and the Zofia Bartoszewicz Trio. After every evening concert, the stage will belong to DJ’s from England, Poland, Germany and other countries. Thus, the ERA NEW HORIZONS club stage we will be home to a variety of music styles, which when combined with the magical atmosphere of the ARSENAL and the high artistic skills will guarantee an unforgettable experience.
